i'm a lifelong athlete, a long-time runner, and now a mom of three.
when my husband and i set out to grow our family we were unexpectedly met with fertility challenges. the thing that kept me grounded and sane was focusing on my physical health which, for me, has always been deeply connected to my mental health and well-being.
i heard over and over that i would have to stop running and that i would no longer be able to workout to the capacity that i was accustomed to. the answer of "do prenatal yoga" was not enough to suffice. it wasn't the level of activity that lit up my soul.
i wanted to dig in and know more about the validity to these statements... so i did. i did my own research, i strength trained safely, learned effective modifications, focused on hip mobility, and ran up until my due date in each pregnancy. my labor and delivery were smooth for all babies, and my postpartum recovery and entry back into fitness we're better than i had hoped for.
i want to show other women that they too can create an active and healthy lifestyle throughout their pregnancy and postpartum experiences. we have been fed the narrative that cardio is the key, when really, it is picking up weights will change our bodies for the better! so why not do that together, as moms and as women? i want to build a community that highlights just how unstoppable mamas can be.
